Whenever Anil went to petrol pump for
petrol and air fill, I would watch intently when he would go to the Air
pressure filling machine, set the numbers, bend, unscrew the cap of the valve
in the tyre and then put the Nozzle and fill the air till we heard ‘Teeee
–te-te-tet’ , then he will go around doing the same process for other tyres. I
admire him for the fact that he knows most of the practical things to do in any
situation, electrical, plumbing, car, scooter, flat tyre, computer, printer,
mobile, telephone, TV, microwave (anything for that matter) troubleshooting. And the fact if there is no
help around he will help himself. I
always asked, what if instead of filling the air, you press valve and the air
from the tyre escapes, he would just say, you put the nozzle again and fill the
air …
Anytime he did pressure check on his own ,
I would wish I could do it someday myself, Finally on July 1st
checked the air pressure of my two wheeler tyres on my own. Before going to the
petrol pump, I confirmed with Anil the
correct air pressure for front and back wheel - 22,36 , at petrol pump there
was nobody at the ‘Free Air’ section , so I thought let me give it a shot and I
did it. I know its kind of silly thing
but for me it means a lot, the fact that I could feel couple of guys looking at
me doing the job, the fact that one of the biker who had come to get the air
checked when saw that I was doing it myself, left without even waiting, the
fact that I could overcome my inhibition to do simple work (which I always
thought I would mess up) at a public place def makes me feel good …. Probably next
thing in ‘To learn and do ‘is changing a flat tyre ! :)
