Aunti ji

Some days back saw an email on Registration for TT tournament - wanted to register that moment itself -- then i paused ... and then I was not sure -- every year i have been participating in TT or badminton tournament , well thats the only time i get to play, rather manage to take time out to play -- and every year i feel that I am the oldest participant (among women) :) -- Flashback -- I was into sports from 5th standard -- Dad was/is good in sports and he brought me into world of badminton .. in class 5 i went for KV Regional Sports meet at Dimapur - train journey from Silchar to dimapur - first time out of home without mom dad - with teachers and schoolmates - great experience - lot of new faces, good competition - good games -- and was selected for nationals i could not believe my luck , but the happiness was short lived as i was underaged for sub junior category -- that is i was youngest in that category -- next year also i was selected but for some reason national was postponed and i never went -- after that never thought of Regional or National .. and it was the usual study grill -- 10th , 12th , graduation all happened fast .. and all those years no sports . and then bangalore happened and wipro happened and started playing again .. cant explain how i feel about playing .. it sets me free .. .if cooking makes me think good ,playing badminton makes me feel good - shouting, challenging myself , enjoying each point won or lost , the heat -chehara ek dam garam and the dub dub sound which goes on my temple -- the sweat -- and finally the cold feeling when i ride back home ... so satisfying ... i feel so refreshed and recharged (ofcourse after a shower and little bit of rest :)) --

Comeback to present -- after shaadi, esther, job - no time for badminton -- then i picked up Table tennis as in the office we had TT tables in our recreation space -- still a beginner but now i enjoy playing -- another advantage of playing TT , i dont have to change - can play wearing saree :D – so, many youngsters in office identify me as "auntyji who plays TT" :) -- heights was- pregnant with Ezekiel 6 -7 months and still managed to play TT and move around table -- finally guys had to tell me - stop playing and scaring us - sit there and watch the game :) -- so after 4 months maternity break when i joined back -- i was kind of back on the Table for some time -- realized lot of new faces - lot of campus recruits .. and in front of them - me definitely auntyji :) --and now 6 months after, not much practice - not sure if i should register for tournament ... i decide to refrain -- then sravanthy with whom i had played 6 months back called me asking if i would like to play with her womens doubles -- Yes Yes -- and i see the list of players not many -- and the few, all yougsters -- me the only aunty ji :)

We play our first match and we win -- seeing me some of them ask why dont you play singles -- i also look around and think yes why not its been long -- i play though i dont win any singles but play good game -- one of them ask why dont you play regularly we play after 6pm everyday and you play good -- i say got 2 kids at home - one just 10months old so cant stay back to play :D and the person look at me eyes wide open -- you married ? you got kids - 2! (though surprised to see her surprise)i laugh out loud and say thank you for the compliment - made my day -- :) Realised you are never too old to do things which you love doing -- and you look younger when you do things you love and enjoy :D

Thats right babay, Aunty Ji
This one's is for you

Abhi bhi hai jawani, zara si hai purani
Hai phir bhi jawani honey ji
Sharma bhula ke, haan thumka laga ke
Karo na thoda manmaani ---

Jitna puraana ho sona sona sona
Kyun na phir bhi rahega woh sona sona sona baby
Aur nasheeli ho wine puraani aunty ...
Abhi bhi tere gaal gore-gore

Lakhon dilon pe dale dore-dore
Dekho deewane hue jaa rahe hain
Aadhe umar ke bhi chhore-chhore
Ha baalon ki safedi se pheeka kab hua hai romance

Aunty ji, aunty ji, get up and dance
Aunty ji, aunty ji, get up and dance
