Chota sa ghar hoga badlon ki chav mein ...

Recently we were invited for a  house warming function of one of Anil’s friend. The last house warming we attended was almost 2 yrs back , which was a flat. Though I don’t know Anil’s friend that well having met the family once I agreed to go with Anil. And I am glad that I went. The house happens to be one of the most modern, beautifully designed and marvelously furnished houses I have seen in 4-5 years. 2 floors and each floor must be around 4500 sq ft , well ventilated, airy , spacey and still each room has its own privacy. The latest equipments in kitchen, home theatre, bathrooms and security systems! Lovely house Achaya ! I congratulated our friend  :)

On our way back home after dinner, we started talking about the beautiful house, and then I said  ‘Anilji it’s a beautiful house but not a house which I would ever want/wish for myself’ Anil smiling asked why I felt that way . Let me be clear its not about the money , I might not have that sort of money for this sort of a house and  I believe even if I had all the money I wont want a house where ---  I have to have 6 cameras in and around my house to feel secure. I mean it looks like you are in a IT office where you all exit and entry points are monitored and even the common areas are monitored under surveillance camera.  (Imagine if I want to walk around in a short shorts and tank top in my home I have to think twice ;) )

Think about the effort which needs to go in keeping this house clean and tidy … atleast 2 servants, I would want a house where whenever I get time I should be able to clean and arrange things as and when I want without depending on others … I would want a house where I scream ‘Esther/Ezekiel’ or want to check on them I should not get tired at the thought of reaching their room …. And I would want them to have similar rooms (if they have separate rooms other wise a common room for them as long as possible)

I do spend time in kitchen, though I love to have all new cooking utensils, but when it comes to daily cooking I prefer doing that in our traditional vessels ‘Chatti Kalam (Clay vessels)’ and the life line of my kitchen “Hawkins Pressure Cooker’ which many a times makes the place messy …. Don’t think I would have the heart to mess around the lovely kitchen which Achayan has …..

My dream house has always been a small house where every room (2 rooms, hall and a kitchen)  will have opening door to a common room/hall/space, there wont be heavy furniture, slant tiled roof, with small glass panes on the roof & French windows for sun/moonlight to come, a small area for flowers/vegetable can be balcony, terrace or ground. A small simple kitchen with the option of  traditional stove/fire , bathroom where lot of sunlight can come, windows through which I can see the world out , fence & gate made of bamboo/wood, a house where there is lot of warmth , house which I could keep clean and maintain without anyone’s help, where I don’t need to have any security devices and still feel safe  ……Chota sa ghar ….
