Mat 15:18

In most of the household it’s the mother who decides what the family should eat and not eat, what is good for health and what is not, what should or should not be eaten on certain days (as per the reason, season, religious practice, tradition, or availability). Looks like now government is actually behaving like ‘Mother’ India, deciding what should not be eaten by the children of India – Eating ‘Beef ‘ (and other milking animals meat) against the culture of India, and should be banned. Say after few years if some party is strong in Jain belief they will come up and say ban  onions, brinjals, garlic, potatoes and other root vegetables since they have quality of darkness, lethargy and a putrid smell.!

Isn’t it strange that someone decides what others should eat ? Judging what is pure , clean or unclean for others, without even observing or seeing what all options of food is available to others outside your household ….  I remember reading news item last year that in Bihar due to shortage of food, people were eating rats. Now Rat/mouse also happens to be Lord Ganesha’s ‘Vahanam’ or vehicle (like Nandi which is considered sacred) Well the point is what is sacred for one, is food for other. Being over protective about food does not help children, if you don’t give them what they like to eat , then they will fuss about most of the things which you give them to eat , or they will find their own means of getting the food they want  …I wish government can also be mother like in other things like Health and Education and Development of her Children !

I remember my mother scolding my brother for eating out from ‘Thela or Tatta Kadda’ – ‘How many times I have told you not to eat dirty things from outside ….’ She would scream and nearly smack him . He would just listen to her and then after 2-3 days go and eat from the same ‘Thela’ his fav. Egg Role , veg role or chicken role .…  once he learnt how and what all ingredients the ‘Thela walla’ puts he started making it at home and taught my mother also :)
