Mummy that KSRTC driver was so kind' - exclaimed my daughter while I rode scooter to drop her and Ezekiel to school 2 days back.Like in most of the other States, KSRTC (Kerala State Road Transport Corporation ) is known for its rashness and lack of courtesy to its passengers.Locally its known as "Aana Vandi" i.e 'Elephant bus' which means when you see an Elephant Bus you give way to it. Don't show your guts trying to over take or block its way. So when Esther said some thing so positive about KSRTC - I asked her to elaborate, as i could not see what had happened on the MC road that day,
It was day of exam and Esther who usually goes by cycle, since was recovering from viral fever I had decided to drop her. so she got time to see around, and just before reaching the main gate of her school where usually there is lot of chaos , she happened to see a grandfather with 2 children trying to cross the road (MC road is almost like NH in terms of traffic). When he started to cross the road he saw a KSRTC bus coming in good speed, and he moved back. Seeing this KSRTC bus driver slowed and stopped on the road and showed his hand to the old man to cross the road with the 2 children.
I know this is very small gesture, but the fact is these days nobody has patience and time for others and more so when KSRTC bus is on the road .. This one small incident which even my 12 year old could see and appreciate is an example how small acts of kindness brings positive changes and vibes in our society .
